What: Music Theory Essentials for the Musician and Producer
When: Wednesday, April 29th, 6:30 PM
Where: IAR, Room 21/21A
Who: IAR Instructor Justin Balch
On Wednesday, April 29th, current IAR students will be able to sit down with IAR instructor Justin Balch and receive a tutorial in Music Theory as it applies to today’s Musician and Producer. Put plainly, if you want to produce music, the more you know about how songs are put together, the better. Whether you use sheet music and real instruments or a MIDI keyboard and software synthesizers, it’s essential to be able to communicate with musicians and engineers regarding what you hear in the speakers. Justin will divide the seminar into 3 parts:
1.) Basic Music Theory
- Harmonic and Rhythmic Notation
- Chord & Scale Structure
2.) Song Form
- Examples given across multiple genres
3.) Analysis of a Song
Be sure to sign up for the event at the Front Desk on the 3rd floor.
